Description

Château Giscours extends over 300 hectares, of which 170 are dedicated to vineyards. Alexander van Beek has been managing the vineyards since the 1990s and has made significant changes aimed at improving the quality of the wines, which today we can see in the excellent level they have achieved.

The must is vinified parcel by parcel in a combination of steel and concrete vats. 80% of the malolactic fermentation takes place in steel, 20% in wooden barrels. Subsequently the wine is aged in French oak barrels (with 50% new wood) for about 18 months.

In the glass the wine is purplish red. The nose opens with aromas of cherry compote, dried lavender and cinnamon. The sip is structured, full-bodied and well balanced by a good freshness, closing with a long spicy note.

For Château Giscours the ideal pairing are meat dishes, both roasted and stewed, such as roasted pheasant or roast duck. It is advisable to let the wine settle for at least 3 hours before serving it.
