Description
Already known for its good wine in 1700, Château Brane Cantenac was bought in 1833 by the Baron of Brane, nicknamed the "Napoleon of the vineyards". Its name comes from the surname of the baron and the name of the place where the vineyards were located, Cantenac. Today the company is owned by the Lurton family, who, starting from 2009, with skilful modifications, have been able to produce ever better wines.
The vinification takes place parcel by parcel in differently made containers: concrete vats, steel vats and wooden barrels. Fermentation takes place for 40% in barrels, the rest takes place in concrete and steel. The wine is then aged 18 months in French oak barriques, of which 70% new.
In the glass, the wine is deep ruby red with purple hues. The nose reveals aromas of dried rose petals, ripe cherries, spices and star anise. The sip is rich, broad, with expertly chiseled tannins. Long finish.
Ideal in combination with stewed red meats and baked duck breast.
