Description
The Marche Rosso IGT Pelago by Umani Ronchi is a red wine produced in the Marche region. This wine is obtained from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and native Conero grapes, grown on deep clay-loam soils, located at an altitude of 100-150 meters above sea level.
The winemaking involves a manual harvest of the grapes in boxes, starting with the Merlot in early September, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon at the end of the same month, and concluding with the Montepulciano in October. The destemmed and lightly pressed grapes ferment at 27-29°C in steel vats, with a submerged cap, for 14-15 days on indigenous yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in 225 liter oak barriques for 14 months, followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging in a thermo-controlled environment.
The wine has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers complex aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with soft tannins and a persistent finish.
It pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
