Description
Madreselva is the name of a climbing plant widespread in the woods of the Agro Pontino, in Lazio, where the Casale del Giglio winery is located.
This red is composed of an assembly equally divided between Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The maturation of these three varieties takes place in different periods, with consequent scalar harvest. For this reason, the winemaking takes place separately for the various lots, which are then joined in the maturation phase in wood for 18 - 20 months. It follows a refinement in bottle of about 8-12 months before marketing.
The color is intense ruby red. The nose shows notes of morello cherry and black cherry, with some hints of balsamic background. The taste confirms the olfactory profile and shows a velvety tannic texture, with a fruity finish on the finish.
It goes well with a beef stew or with a traditional cow's tail.
