Description

Antinoo is the invented name of this Lazio white wine produced by the Casale del Giglio winery. The vineyards are located in the Agro Pontino, where in 1907 the bas-relief depicting the character of Antinous was found, a beautiful young Greek man portrayed in the gesture of pruning the grapes. From this find one of the white grapes of the cellar takes its name.

It is made up for 1/3 of Viogner and for the remaining part of Chardonnay. In winemaking the two varieties follow distinct paths. For both, the route starts in steel and continues in tonneaux. A portion of Chardonnay is decanted into unshorn oak barrels, while the rest of the wine ferments, both alcoholic and malolactic, in cask. A period of 6-12 months of aging in bottle makes this white ready for marketing.

At sight it presents itself in a straw yellow hue with abundant golden reflections. The floral texture is the dominant one, on the nose, declined in notes of broom, narcissus, acacia flowers and yellow rose. The taste introduces itself with a salty and fresh character, which dilutes the finish with an enveloping softness and persists in a balance of components.

Perfect with traditional Gricia pasta.
