Description
Fonzone's Aglianico Mattoda' was born in vineyards located in Irpinia, in Paternopoli, in the province of Avellino. The vineyards are located on two sides of a well-ventilated hill, located at an altitude ranging from 360 to 430 m above sea level and circumscribed by the Fredane and Ifalco streams.
It is produced from pure Aglianico grapes. Part of the grapes is macerated and fermented in cocciopesto amphorae for 30 days. After racking, the refinement continues for a further 18 months. Another part of the must is macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks for a month. After racking, one part is aged in large 25 hl barrels, one 500 l barrel and one in second and third passage barriques for 18 months.
It is characterized by a ruby red colour. The nose reveals aromas of blueberries and menthol notes, eucalyptus and vanilla. The sip is balanced and balsamic, with fine tannins and good persistence.
Perfect with roast meats, spicy and truffle dishes and aged cheeses.
