Description
Known for the quality of its wines since the 1700s, Château La Lagune has been owned by the Seze family for centuries. When George Burnet bought the Château in 1958, its conditions were disastrous: both the war and the frost of 1956 had practically destroyed the vineyards, of which only 5 hectares remained, so he undertakes to replant them. Today Château La Lagune belongs to the Frey family.
The parcel vinification of the grapes takes place in about seventy temperature-controlled steel vats, whose dimensions vary from 22 to 200 hl. Malolactic fermentation also takes place here, at the end of which the wine is assembled and aged in French oak barrels (50% -60% new wood) for 18 months.
Intense ruby red color, on the nose the wine reveals aromas of black currant, blackberries, black olives and tobacco. The taste is full-bodied, with well-defined tannins that ends with a fresh and persistent final note.
It can be paired with roasted and grilled white and red meats.
