Description
The sweet wine Grand Costancia is linked, like the Groot Costantia winery, to the name of Napoleon Bonaparte, who, during his exile in Sant'Elena, ordered the wines from Groot Costantia. Grand Constantia is still produced and bottled today in the historic Cloete winery, which takes its name from the family that founded the winery in 1800.
The grapes are brought to full ripeness, to favor their natural sweetness and aroma. The grapes ferment on the skins for about a week before being pressed, and then refine for 24 months in wooden barrels.
In the glass it appears of a beautiful amber color. The nose opens with sweet hints of apricot and peach, in which aromas of orange blossom can also be recognized, to conclude with notes of caramel and dehydrated fruit. In the mouth the sweetness of the wine is well balanced by the acidity, for a clean and persistent finish.
Ideal to combine with chocolate desserts, cheesecake and aged cheeses.
