Description
Gigondas Rouge by E. Guigal is a robust and generous wine, characterized by power and structured tannins. This wine is the result of careful selection and assembly carried out by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, representing one of the excellences in the terroir of the southern Rhône Valley.
Produced with a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from approximately 40-year-old vineyards located on ancient alluvial, red clay and sometimes stony soils on the hills. The winemaking uses traditional methods with long maceration. Aging takes place for two years in large oak barrels, half of which are new.
At sight, it presents a beautiful purple hue. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet dominated by stone fruits, liquorice and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it is generous, powerful and full-bodied, with a long and elegant finish. The attack is decisive and thoroughbred, with tannins present but well integrated.
Perfect to accompany red meats, especially game, and cheeses.
