Description

The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Perrière by Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, from Volnay, is a wine of considerable prestige and history. With grapes from vineyards grown on compact limestone soils with inserts of marl, this site is protected by a picturesque stone wall, a legacy of the times when monks tended these vineyards, helping to create an ideal microclimate for the cultivation of Pinot Noir.

The harvest of the grapes is carried out completely by hand, with careful destemming which prepares the fruit for a vinification which enhances the purity and intensity of the natural flavors of the vine. The production methods used for this wine are close to organic farming in order to safeguard the environment and obtain a wine in harmony with nature. The refinement takes place mainly in older barriques.

At sight, the wine presents an intense ruby red hue. On the nose, complex aromas of red and black cherries, wild blueberries, cinnamon, espresso, cocoa and earthy minerals emerge, creating an aromatic bouquet of great richness. In the mouth, the flavors are delicious and vibrant, with an elegant structure that, despite being on the lighter side, is supported by firm but fine-grained tannins that contribute to a long and satisfying finish.

This wine pairs beautifully with first courses, red and white meats, and game, making it ideal for elegant dinners or special occasions where the complexity and elegance of the wine can be fully appreciated.
