Description
Pierre Girardin's Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur is an authentic expression of Pinot Noir, coming from one of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations.
Once in the cellar, the grapes are subjected to a scrupulous sorting, after which the stalks are separated and the bunches softly pressed. This is followed by prolonged maceration in contact with the skins, in order to extract color and aromatic complexity, and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The aging takes place in oak barrels for 18 months.
The result is a ruby red wine. On the nose, intense aromas of red fruits stand out which mix with nuances of mushrooms and spicy accents of nutmeg. On the palate it is powerful but at the same time velvety, with a defined but elegant tannic structure.
It is an ideal wine to pair with noble poultry such as roast guinea fowl, or with rich game dishes.
