Description
The Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco of the La Roncaia company originates from vineyards located in the municipality of Nimis, in the province of Udine.
It is obtained from Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes, harvested late by hand and partially dried for about 8 weeks. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with 25-30 days maceration, at controlled temperature. It follows ageing in new and second-hand French oak barrels for 18 months, and for a further 6 months in bottle.
It takes on an intense garnet red colour, with ruby reflections in the glass. The nose offers a complex and intense bouquet, with earthy and berry hints that give way to spicy and toasted fragrances. Warm and velvety, it reveals a wine with a good body and great gustatory persistence.
Ideal in combination with grilled red meats, it is excellent to accompany game dishes.
