Description
Boekenhoutskloof Sémillon is a wine that originates from the prestigious area of Franschhoek. Featuring an impressive viticultural history, it is produced primarily from South Africa's oldest Sémillon vineyard, planted in 1902. This vineyard extends across clay-rich alluvial soils, providing a solid foundation for the growth of superior quality grapes.
The Sémillon grapes are harvested in whole bunches and are subjected to spontaneous fermentation both in classic 225 liter barriques and in concrete eggs, without the addition of sulphur. The refinement follows at low temperatures for 14 months, divided between new French oak barriques and cement barrels.
The Sémillon from Boekenhoutskloof has a golden yellow color and displays fresh and inviting aromas of orange blossom, jam and jasmine on the nose. On the palate, it is layered, with a soft acidity and a dry and enveloping structure. The minerality is pronounced, and the finish is linear, with a light salinity that invites you to the next sip.
This wine pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including fish soups and broths, eggs and game.
