Description
Joseph Drouhin's Fleurie is a red wine produced in the heart of Beaujolais, considered one of the ten most famous Crus of the region. Made entirely from Gamay grapes, the Fleurie vineyard extends between Moulin-à-Vent and Chiroubles, with a south-east and north-west exposure. The soils of the area are characterized by pink granite, poor and acidic.
The vinification follows the traditional semi-carbonic methodology of Beaujolais, using whole bunches. The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to rigorous selection both in the vineyard and in the cellar. The maceration, which lasts from 4 to 10 days, takes place in tanks and the refinement continues for a period of 10-12 months.
This Fleurie is a very refined and delicate wine, which has a bright raspberry color and on the nose reveals a floral bouquet of lilac and violet, with touches of blackcurrant. On the palate it offers a soft and silky freshness, with a beautiful presence and a long persistence that develops subtle aromatic notes.
It pairs perfectly with poultry dishes, fish in sauce or cheeses with a bloomy rind.
