Description
Etna Rosso Contrada Cavaliere di Benanti is produced exclusively from the noble native variety of Etna, Nerello Mascalese. An authentic expression of a unique terroir, located in the Contrada Cavaliere on the south-west side of the volcano, in the municipality of Santa Maria di Licodia. The particularity of this area, located about 900 meters above sea level, lies in its high altitude and abundant brightness, factors which, together with a less rainy mountain climate than the average Etna one and marked ventilation, contribute to creating ideal conditions for viticulture.
The grape harvest takes place around mid-October. Fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature for approximately 21 days, with the help of specific native yeasts, the result of long experiments conducted in the vineyard and cellar by the company. After fermentation, the wine matures in French oak tonneaux for 12 months, before completing the refinement in steel before bottling, where the refinement continues for another 10 months.
Visually it presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers an ethereal and spicy bouquet, embellished with hints of red fruit. In the mouth, it is dry, full and tannic, with a persistent and harmonious finish that highlights the varietal typicality and the richness of the terroir.
This wine is ideal in combination with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses, where its tannic structure and aromatic complexity are able to accompany and enhance intense and rich flavours, offering a profound tasting experience.
