Description

The red Etna Calderara Sottana by Girolamo Russo was born in the vineyards located in the Contrada Calderara Sottana district in Randazzo, in the extraordinary wine-growing panorama of Etna, a terroir particularly suited to the production of wines of great value, thanks to unique temperature ranges.

It is produced from Nerello Mascalese grapes with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, harvested in the second half of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (28-30 °C), with a 15-day maceration on the skins. The wine then ages in used tonneaux for 18 months.

It is characterized by an intense ruby red colour. The nose opens with a varied bouquet, which opens with aromas of blackberry, currant and morello cherry, followed by notes of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is broad and vibrant, with an excellent structure and a long persistence.

It goes well with baked pasta, roast meats and aged cheeses.
