Description
The Cuvée Barthélemy red wine is produced by Château Le Puy in the Bordeaux region, in Saint-Cibard. The Amoreau family has been producing wine here since 1610 and today cultivates 54 hectares of vineyards, many of which are over 50 years old. All wines are produced with minimal addition of sulphites and are neither filtered nor clarified.
It consists of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are first of all subjected to destemming-crushing. Vinification takes place with spontaneous fermentation and submerged cap maceration on the skins for 2-4 weeks in open concrete vats. The aging takes place for 24 months in large barrels and barriques.
Ruby red in colour, it reveals intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit on the nose, as well as notes of sweet spices. The sip is fresh and full-bodied, with silky tannins and a persistent finish.
Excellent combined with roasted red meats and game.
