Description

Contessa Entellina Chardonnay Chiarandà by Donnafugata was born in the heart of south-western Sicily, on the Contessa Entellina estate.

It is obtained exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, harvested by hand in boxes with careful selection of the grapes in the second half of August. The must is transferred to steel where fermentation is started at a controlled temperature of 15-16 °C. This is followed by 5–6 months aging partly in oak barrels and tonneaux and partly in small concrete tanks; finally in the bottle for about 12 months.

Characterized by a bright golden yellow colour, the Chiarandà by Donnafugata releases a complex and intense bouquet on the nose, in which hints of peach and Mediterranean scrub are followed by notes of vanilla and flint. On the palate it is persuasive and rich, with a touch of flavour in the finish which makes it extremely pleasant.

This wine is perfect to be served together with lobsters and vegetable soups.
