Description
Gê is a red wine of Chilean origin, produced in the prestigious Colchagua valley. Composed of a blend of Syrah, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon, it comes from the Fundo Los Robles vineyard, located 260 meters above sea level, near the Tinguiririca river. The vineyard is surrounded by a sclerophyll forest and is characterized by a colluvial formation with rocky soils, ideal for the development of an extensive root system.
The winemaking process begins with the manual selection of the grapes on a conveyor belt, followed by destemming and a second selection of the grapes. The grapes are then transferred to the tanks by gravity and undergo a cold maceration for 5 days. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, maintaining temperatures between 24° and 26°C. After fermentation, the wine is further macerated for a total of 25-30 days and the malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in oak barrels and concrete eggs. The refinement lasts 16 months, of which the first 10 months take place partly in concrete tanks and partly in French oak barrels, while the last 6 months take place in cement eggs and oak barrels.
On the nose, Gê is a very complex wine that offers notes of black fruits such as plums and blackberries, along with hints of graphite, cedar and spices such as cloves, enriched by fresh notes of lavender and rosemary. On the palate, it presents a broad entry and well-balanced ripe tannins with a crisp acidity, offering a structured and harmonious tasting experience.
Perfect with red meat dishes such as beef Wellington, lamb, smoked meats and game, Gê also pairs very well with roasted vegetables such as aubergines, red peppers and courgettes, spicy curry dishes and fish such as tuna. It is also an excellent choice with blue cheeses and the classic Brie and Camembert.
