Description
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, Louis Jadot's masterpiece, is positioned in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, surrounded by Chambolle Musigny to the north and by Flagey-Echézeaux and Vosne Romanée to the south. With over 2 hectares of vineyards, this estate produces a Pinot Noir of extraordinary expression, thanks to the geological diversity that goes from the calcareous and stony clay of the upper parts, to more humid and humus-rich soils in the lower part.
Winemaking involves destemming the grapes followed by fermentation in tanks for 3-4 weeks. The maturation, which lasts 18 months, takes place in oak barriques, giving the wine an impeccable complexity and tannic structure.
With a ruby red color, it unfolds on the nose an intense bouquet of black fruits, undergrowth and delicate notes of spices and vanilla, the result of aging in barrique. This complex olfactory profile precedes a rich and powerful palate, where finely polished tannins blend with a lively freshness, leading to a long and persistent finish.
This wine is ideal with rich meat dishes, such as braised meats and stews, thanks to its ability to integrate perfectly with intense and structured flavours.
