Description
The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru by Domaine de La Pousse d'Or is one of the jewels of Burgundy, coming from one of the historic estates of Volnay. This wine is produced entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, from vineyards grown on east-oriented land. The soil is composed of compact limestone with insertions of marl and contributes significantly to the distinctive qualities of the wine together with the methods used close to biodynamic agriculture.
Winemaking and aging involve delicate and natural methods. The wine is aged in oak barriques for 15 months, expertly balancing the influence of the wood with the natural characteristics of the grape. This moderate aging process allows the wine to develop notable complexity without overpowering the delicate fruit aromas.
At sight, the wine has a deep and luminous ruby red color, with purple hues that announce the richness of its aromatic profile. On the nose, intense aromas of red and black fruits, such as cherries and blackcurrants, stand out. On the palate, the wine reveals a well-defined structure, accompanied by a mature tannic texture and a long-lasting aromatic persistence.
This wine is ideal paired with intense and structured dishes, such as braised red meats, game and mature cheeses, where its structure and depth of flavors can be fully appreciated. The quality and aging potential of Clos de la Roche make it a collectible wine for wine lovers and an excellent candidate for further years of cellar maturation.
