Description
Chianti Classico Riserva by Tenuta Casenuova is born on the hills of Panzano in Chianti, in the province of Florence. The company was owned by the Gandolfini family for decades, only to be acquired in 2014 by Philippe Austruy, who already owned some châteaux in France. The supervision of the vineyards and the preparation of the wine blends are supervised by the consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt.
The harvest is manual and takes place, depending on the year, between the second week of September and the first ten days of October. The grapes are vinified in vitrified concrete tanks, with pumping over and délestage during the entire period of stay in the tank. The racking and pressing of the pomace takes place by means of a vertical press. This is followed by a 12-month ageing period in concrete tanks and 500-liter tonneaux of first and second pass. Finally the wine is further refined in the bottle for 24 months.
In the glass the wine is intense ruby red with garnet hues. The nose reveals aromas of violets and cherries, blood orange, undergrowth and finally woody. The taste is full and full-bodied, with dense and ripe tannins and a long persistence.
Ideal in combination with pasta seasoned with game ragout, stewed wild boar and aged and semi-aged cheeses.
