Description
Chianti Classico Maggiolo is produced by the Lamole di Lamole winery, located in Greve in Chianti. It takes its name from the iris flower, a typical flower of the fields around Lamole that blooms in May.
It is made from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, harvested between the first and third weeks of October. The grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel vats, where the Sangiovese is separated from the international grapes. The wine is then aged for about 18 months in oak barrels of 50 and 70 hl for the Sangiovese and in barriques for the international varieties. After blending, the wine completes its ageing in the bottle.
In the glass, the wine has a ruby red colour. To the nose, it has aromas of cyclamen and violets, dark fruits such as mulberry, blackberry and blueberry, with hints of sweet spices and cocoa. The palate is fresh and smooth, with well-rounded tannins and a long finish.
Ideal with soups and broths, lightly spiced dishes and Asian meat dishes.
