Description
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Roncicone stands out for its floral freshness combined with the first spicy notes of evolution, acidity and marked minerality. A pure Sangiovese from the vineyard of the same name that lies on a soil made up of marine deposits of Pliocene origin, with the presence of sandy deposits, stones smoothed by the sea and clay in depth. The vineyard, of about 10 hectares, is located at 320 meters above sea level and has a south-east exposure. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected.
The grapes are destemmed and transferred by gravity into 100 hl stainless steel truncated conical tanks, are then inoculated with selected yeasts. Fermentation follows at a temperature of 24-27°C with daily punching down and maceration on the skins for about 14-16 days. The wine then ages for 22 months in 500-litre tonneaux, 30% of which are new and 70% second-use before being bottled.
In the glass it has a deep ruby red color. The nose is characterized by aromas of red and violet flowers, red fruit such as cherry and spicy hints. The sip is warm and harmonious, with a long finish.
Excellent in combination with grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
