Description
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is produced by Felsina from grapes from the vineyard of the same name, so called because there was a heliotherapic colony.
It is obtained from 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are pressed and destemmed. The grapes are fermented in steel for 16-20 days, with daily pumping over and punching down. The wine then ages for over 30 months in new French oak barriques, before being bottled.
In the glass it has an intense ruby red color. The nose is characterized by aromas of berries, earth, tobacco, as well as mineral and spicy notes. The sip is elegant, with fine tannins and a long finish.
Excellent in combination with stewed or roasted meat or game dishes, it is also perfect with aged cheeses.
