Description
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Tenuta Casenuove was born on the hills of Panzano in Chianti, in the province of Florence. The company was owned by the Pandolfini family for decades, before being acquired in 2015 by Philippe Austruy, already owner of some estates in France and an estate in Portugal. The supervision of the vineyards and the preparation of the wine blends are followed by the consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt.
The pure Sangiovese grapes are vinified in vitrified concrete tanks, followed by an 18-month refinement period in large barrels.
In the glass the wine is ruby red in color with garnet shades. The nose reveals aromas of violet and black fruit, blueberry and blackberry above all, with spicy final notes. The sip is full and elegant, with firm and well-structured tannins and good persistence.
Ideal in combination with grilled and stewed red meats and game and mature cheeses.
