Description
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sorleone of Villa a Sesta was born in vineyards located on the Sienese hills, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga.
It is produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes, strictly hand-picked and sorted at the selection table before destemming and crushing. Vinification takes place in vats at a controlled temperature of 27°C. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in about 7 - 10 days and then the maceration on the skins lasts for about 6 months. The wine then matures in medium toasted oak barriques from the central massif of France for 15 months and, once bottled, it is refined for another 6 months or so.
Sorleone is a wine with an intense ruby red colour. The nose has an intense and ample vinous and fruity aroma, with hints of cherry and dried fruit and pleasant spicy notes, among which green pepper, cinnamon and vanilla stand out. In the mouth it reveals a large volume and a rich structure, with a balanced acidity. The finish is elegant and long lasting.
Perfect to accompany platters of cured meats, cold cuts and aged cheeses, it is ideal in combination with stewed meats and game.
