Description
Chianti Classico is produced with a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes from company vineyards with at least 7 years of age.
The vines grow on soils rich in clay and limestone located at about 350 meters above sea level. After a thinning of the bunches carried out in August, the wine ferments in contact with the skins for 15–20 days before ageing in barrique and cask for 6 months. This is followed by another 4-months ageing in bottle.
Intense ruby red, it has hints of ripe fruit such as cherry and raspberry, delicate notes of plum and hints of Mediterranean herbs, with hints of laurel and cinchona. On the palate the entrance is delicate and the wine opens with density and body, sustained but soft tannins and an excellent finish. The refreshing acidity makes it a wine suitable for ageing.
Ideal wine for Tuscan cuisine, it can also accompany red meats and stews, tasty mushroom-based timbales.
