Description
Châteauneuf-du-Pape by Château de Beaucastel is a prestigious wine produced in the southern Rhône region of France. This wine is known for its unique blend of all 13 grape varieties traditionally authorized for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a particular emphasis on the Mourvèdre variety. The estate extends over 100 hectares of vineyards planted on soil characterized by rounded pebbles and limestone clay, ideal for viticulture.
The vinification involves the manual harvesting of the grapes, which are vinified separately in oak barrels for the reductive varieties (such as Mourvèdre and Syrah) and in traditional enamelled concrete tanks for the others. After malolactic fermentation, the different varieties are blended and the resulting wine is aged in oak foudres for a year before bottling. This process guarantees the quality and longevity of the wine.
The wine has a deep ruby color and offers a complex bouquet with notes of black fruits, Provençal herbs, spices and leather. On the palate, it is rich and structured, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The flavors of blackberry, plum and spice intertwine harmoniously, culminating in a long, lingering finish. This wine is known for its ability to age well, developing further complexity over time.
It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, game and mature cheeses.
