Description
Joseph Drouhin's Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc is a white wine produced in the renowned Côte de Beaune region, a few kilometers from Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, thus constituting the prestigious Côte des Blancs. This wine is made exclusively with Chardonnay grapes grown on complex soils, composed of calcareous marl, yellow or red clay and calcareous gravel; on light soils, gently sloping and well exposed.
The winemaking follows traditional and careful methods. The grapes are harvested manually in crates, with careful selection if necessary. After slow pressing of the whole bunches in a pneumatic press, the final pressing juices are separated from the top quality juices, which pass directly into barrels. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, followed by aging, take place in barrels with oak wood from high quality French forests, for a period of 14-16 months.
This wine stands out for its generosity and elegance, presenting itself with a light golden hue. On the nose it offers an intense bouquet with floral notes, brioche and candied lemon, which over time evolve towards nuances of toasted hazelnut and spices. On the palate it is frank and vigorous, with good structure and finesse. The persistence is long, with pleasant final notes of flowers and gingerbread.
It is perfect when paired with fish, seafood or poultry dishes.
