Description
Indie de Monbadon organic red wine is produced by Château de Monbadon in Bordeaux, owned by the barons of Monbadon since 1600. The wine owes its name to Indie de Monbadon, who in 1330 had permission from King Edward III to fortify the building, making it one of the last examples of military architecture in the Gironde. The wine is born within the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux denomination, located 45 km from Bordeaux and mainly cultivated with Merlot grapes.
The Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes are vinified at a controlled temperature for 14-25 days in steel and in amphorae, with numerous pumping overs. 17% of the wine is then aged in 500 l wooden barrels, the remainder in steel and amphorae, where it remains for 6 months.
Ruby red in colour, it reveals fruity aromas of cherry and wild strawberry on the nose. The sip is juicy, medium-bodied and with fine tannins.
Ideal in combination with red meats, roast pork and aged cheeses.
