Description
The Carmignano Riserva from the Piaggia winery was born in vineyards located in Poggio a Caiano, in the province of Prato. The company was founded in the mid-70s by Mauro Vannucci and today manages 15 hectares of vineyards.
The Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes are vinified in small containers with indigenous yeasts. The contact on the skins lasts from 18 to 28 days. The wine obtained is aged in French oak barriques for at least 18 months, followed by at least 6 months in the bottle.
Intense ruby red in colour, the wine reveals a fruity bouquet of cassis and raspberry to the nose, to which are added hints of tobacco, chocolate and sweet spices. The sip is enveloping, structured, with elegant tannins and a long finish.
It goes well with important courses of red meat and game and aged cheeses.
