Description

The Il Sasso red wine from the Piaggia winery was born in vineyards located in Poggio a Caiano, in the province of Prato. The company was founded in the mid-70s by Mauro Vannucci and today manages 15 hectares of vineyards.

The Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes are vinified in small containers with indigenous yeasts. Contact with the skins lasts for 18-20 days. The wine obtained is aged in French oak barriques for at least 15 months, followed by at least 6 months in the bottle.

Intense ruby red in colour, the wine reveals a fruity bouquet of cherries and morello cherries to the nose, to which balsamic and spicy hints are added. The sip is balanced and with a long finish.

It goes well with important courses of red meat and game and aged cheeses.
