Description
Tardano Garnacha is a red wine produced 100% with Garnacha grapes, grown in the municipality of Almonacid de la Sierra, in Aragon. The vines, planted in 1983, grow on predominantly clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level, benefiting from a continental climate. This wine represents a pure and authentic expression of the Garnacha variety and its place of origin.
The winemaking involves spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks, with manual pigeage and without pumping over, to obtain a light extraction. Subsequently, 90% of the wine is aged for 12 months in an underground concrete tank, while the remaining 10% matures in 500 liter oak barrels.
Tardano Garnacha has notes of red cherry, raspberry, liquorice, a light touch of pepper and a certain minerality. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a notable power of flavor and good acidity which gives it a fresh and lively character.
This Garnacha pairs perfectly with grilled red meats and mature cheeses.
