Description
Claus Preisinger's Blaufränkisch Kalkstein is a red wine from Burgenland, Austria. This wine is made from Blaufränkisch grapes (Franconia) grown on limestone soils, reflecting the mineral character of the soil. The vineyards have an average age of 25 years.
Winemaking begins with destemming and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. Refinement takes place for 80% of the wine in large 35 hl barrels for 6 months, while the remaining part is refined in 10 and 5 hl barrels for the same period. This process gives the wine a complex and well-balanced structure.
The Blaufränkisch Kalkstein offers the nose intense and spicy aromas, accompanied by fruity notes. In the mouth, it presents a lively acidity which enhances its vinosity, making it a pleasant and light wine. The spicy and fruity characteristics are well balanced, creating a wine of great personality and character.
This wine pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
