Brunello par excellence, the wine that gave rise to the denomination as we know it today. Majestic and noble, it is among the greats that have marked the history of Brunello. Fruit of the exclusive BBS11 clone of Sangiovese Grosso, expertly selected at the estate, it expresses a unique and inimitable character.

Description

Brunello di Montalcino Biondi-Santi represents a wine masterpiece, combining history and prestige in a refined and complex expression. This excellent interpretation of the famous Tenuta Il Greppo continues to embody the vision of Clemente Santi, founder of a winemaking tradition that has been handed down for over a century, and carries forward an exceptional quality that distinguishes each bottle.

Vintage 2018

The 2018 vintage was characterized by an averagely cool climate and abundant rainfall throughout the vegetative cycle, with summer temperatures below average. Shortly before the harvest, the north wind carefully dried the bunches and plants, allowing for an optimal harvest that began on September 16. The grapes, rigorously selected, were vinified in vats of various sizes and materials, such as stainless steel, wood and cement, and the wine was then refined in Slavonian oak barrels of medium and large capacity.

This Brunello stands out for its multifaceted and balanced aromatic profile, with notes ranging from dried aromatic herbs to the freshness of violets, accompanied by hints of orange peel, berries, morello cherry and a touch of mint. On the palate it is elegant and succulent, with a lively acidity that intertwines with smooth and velvety tannins, creating a harmonious and enveloping tasting experience, rich in energy and persistence.

Perfect to pair with Tuscan dishes, such as grilled or braised red meats, it best enhances the flavour of aged cheeses.
