Description
Poggio Landi's Brunello di Montalcino is made from a selection of the estate's best Sangiovese grapes, which come from vineyards located between 180 and 500 metres above sea level, on clayey soils with a good presence of marl.
The grapes are harvested by hand when they are perfectly ripe. The fermentation takes place spontaneously for 2 weeks, after which the liquid is transferred to French oak barrels where it matures for 38 months and then in the bottle where it is aged for at least 6 months.
In the glass, it has a ruby red colour. The nose is complex, with hints of ripe red fruit mixed with spicy notes of black pepper and liquorice. On the palate, it is intense and elegant, with flavours corresponding to those perceived on the nose, which also reveal sweet traces of vanilla and a finish of remarkable persistence.
Excellent with mature cheeses and red meats, it goes well with all game dishes.
