Description
Sangiovese Grosso in purity that comes from vineyards located on the hill overlooking the view from the top of Sant'Angelo in Colle, south of Montalcino: an emblematic Brunello comes to life from vines placed on a natural terrace facing south, protected from the winds of sirocco and north wind from Poggio dell'Arna and Poggio Civitella.
The climatic conditions could not be more benign, with a southern exposure of the vines that guarantees natural and full ripening of the grapes. Harvested by hand in the first days of October, the works in the cellar are preceded by careful green pruning and mechanical working of the soil. Maceration takes about twenty days, using indigenous yeasts of the same grapes, and then passes a period of 42 months in Slavonian oak barrels and, only a small part, 12 months in barrique. Refine for 4 months in the bottle. The philosophy behind the vinification is “traditional but not conservative”, respecting the tradition and history of Brunello, with that touch of modernity that makes the wine simply magnificent.
Garnet red in color in the glass, it releases an ethereal aroma to the nose with hints of fruits and berries, hints of tobacco and woody notes of sandalwood. Upon examination of the taste it reveals a robust structure with a classic personality that is well suited to the Tuscan tradition of the Sienese hills. The taste is warm, persuasive and full, the persistent aftertaste with hints of myrtle and plum.
A Brunello that perfectly marries all red meats, is to be tried with aged cheeses and game.
