Description

The Brunello di Montalcino of the Il Poggione winery is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes from the oldest owned vineyards located in the Montalcino area at an altitude of between 150 and 450 m.

Sangiovese grapes are harvested manually. Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place inside stainless steel containers. The 36 months of aging take place instead in large French oak barrels of 30 and 50 hl, and are followed by a further long period of storage of the wine in the bottle.

At sight it is ruby red. The nose shows a fascinating olfactory intensity, drawn by a fruity trail of red fruits and berries on a background composed of spices, leather and tobacco. Complexity also emerges on the palate, where alcohol and tannin balance in a full and decisive body.

Perfect if paired with preparations based on red meat and game, in particular with wild boar with salmì.
