Description
Joseph Drouhin’s Brouilly is a red wine produced in the north of the Beaujolais region, considered one of the most famous and extensive crus in the area. Made with Gamay grapes grown on steep slopes, the vineyard extends over the hills of Mont Brouilly, known for resembling a volcano with a small house on top. The soils of Brouilly are very diverse, ranging from granite to rich alluvial soils.
The vinification follows the traditional semi-carbonic Beaujolais methodology, using whole bunches of grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to rigorous selection both in the vineyard and in the cellar to ensure the highest quality. Maceration lasts between 4 and 10 days, followed by aging in tanks for between 10 and 12 months. This process produces a balanced wine with soft tannins and a lively freshness.
It is an elegant and refined wine, characterized by a vibrant ruby hue. On the nose you can perceive aromas of violet, lilac and notes of wild blackberry and cranberry. In the mouth the tannins are soft and the final persistence leaves pleasant notes of berries.
This Brouilly pairs beautifully with white meat dishes, poultry or soft cheeses.
