Description

The Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso of the Marquis Antinori was born in the homonymous estate near the medieval town of Bolgheri, in the Upper Maremma. It is a wine born in 1990, from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and sometimes a small percentage of Petit Verdot, to faithfully interpret the innate charm, imperishable elegance and testamentary value of the Bolgheri terroir.

The 2017 vintage, characterized by a mild and dry winter and a warm and appropriate summer, which reduced the size of the bunches, however, saw a constant and balanced ripening of the grapes, thanks to the late summer rains, which lowered temperatures. The harvest therefore began, under the best auspices, with the picking of the first Merlot grapes on August 26 and continued with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from mid to late September. The operations in the cellar follow a long selection process, in which only the best grapes participate. The individual parcels, previously divided, ferment separately in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 15-20 days. After racking, the wine is then transported in barrique, where malolactic fermentation takes place. After assembling the best vinified parcels, Guado al Tasso begins a second life in French oak barrels where it remains to refine until it is then bottled, in July 2019.

Guado al Tasso 2017 satisfies the sight with an intense ruby red color. The nose is intoxicated by an integral, limpid and powerful aroma, with hints reminiscent of small berries, such as raspberry, wild strawberry, strawberry tree and wild blackberry, which are joined by laurel leaves and mint. On the palate it is sweet, important and persistent, with a tannic texture that can be enjoyed in all its silkiness. It is the ideal wine to forget a little in the cellar to enjoy, in a few years, all the malia that will envelop you as if in a dream.

Excellent meditation wine, it is ideal in combination with first courses based on meat sauce, grilled red meats, stewed meats and game. Perfect to accompany aged cheeses.
