Description
The Villa de Corullón of the Descendientes de Jose Palacios company comes from the 45 hectares of the estate located in the Bierzo area.
Representative expression of a high quality potential due to processing techniques in the vineyard and cellar, this Corullón is produced on soils containing quartz and slate that host vines between 50 and 90 years old. A careful selection of the Mencia grapes allows to start a partial destemming followed by a fermentation in wooden vats for 32 days. After the long maceration and malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 15 months.
Intense purple in color, it has hints of ripe blackberry and plum on the nose, letting cocoa, lavender and incense emerge before giving the palate a medium acidity and a compact sip, supported by red fruits, a pleasant spiciness and balsamic notes. Balance and intensity in the sip accompany a long finish.
Ideal with dishes of savory cheeses and cured meats, it is perfect for grilled meats, game and chicken.
