Description
Since 1881 the Pio Cesare winery has been cultivating vineyards in the Langa and today it manages a wonderful estate with parcels in the crus: Gustava, Garretti in Grinzane Cavour, Ornato, La Serra, Lirano, Colombaro, Briccolina in Serralunga d'Alba, Roncaglie in La Morra, Ravera in Novello.
To these is added the prized Mosconi di Monforte d'Alba cru, where Pio Cesare owns an old vineyard, which produces Nebbiolo grapes of exceptional quality. The vinification takes place in steel with maceration for about a month. The refinement lasts 30 months and takes place in large oak barrels, with the exception of a small part which ages in barrique for 12 months, before being blended with the rest of the mass.
It is a small production, which gives an intense, rich and long-lasting Barolo. Garnet in color, it has aromas of small ripe red fruits, currants, raspberries, hints of soft spices and undergrowth. On the palate it has an important structure, with dense, concentrated aromas and dense tannins.
To be paired with game or stewed beef.
