Description
Luigi Pira's cellar represents an important reference point for all lovers of the great wines of Serralunga d'Alba. The estate covers a total of about a dozen hectares, which include some plots located in the most important crus of the Barolo area. Among the historic vineyards, the hectare cultivated in Vigna Rionda stands out in particular, one of the most fascinating Additional Gographic Mentions of all. The vineyard is located at 350 meters above sea level with south-west exposure, on precious calcareous-clayey marl.
Its grapes have always been considered among the best and are vinified in horizontal tanks with a maceration on the skins in a couple of weeks. Before bottling, the wine ages for 24 months in wooden barrels of various sizes.
It is a great classic Barolo, a synthesis of elegance and structure. It has a garnet color with balsamic aromas, officinal herbs, undergrowth, red fruits, hints of spices and blond tobacco. The taste is complex, deep with lively tannins and a very persistent finish.
To be paired with beef stew and game-based recipes.
