Description
This Barolo is produced by Pico Maccario, a company founded in 1997 by the brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario. It produces wines from the main Piedmontese denominations: Langhe, Monferrato, Gavi, Barolo and Barbaresco.
It consists exclusively of Nebbiolo grapes which are destemmed and gently pressed. The vinification takes place in thermo-controlled steel tanks and the maceration on the skins lasts 13-15 days with punching down. The wine thus obtained then ages in 25hl and 35hl Slavonian oak barrels for 18 months, followed by a further 12 months of aging in the bottle.
Ruby red in color with garnet hues, it reveals a bouquet of aromas of dried roses, lavender and black cherry on the nose, as well as delicate spice notes. The sip is elegant and balanced, with a persistent finish.
It is the ideal wine to pair with roasts and stewed meats, including game. Try it with seasoned cheeses.
