Description
In the heart of the municipal area of Serralunga d'Alba, the Pira family cultivates high quality vineyards in the famous crus: Margheria, Marenca and Vigna Rionda. The Barolo Marenca comes from a parcel of a couple of hectares, located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. The sunny exposure facing south, south-west and the soils composed of compact marl of calcareous-clayey matrix, give Nebbiolo grapes of extraordinary quality.
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in horizontal steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The refinement lasts a total of 24 months, with the use of wooden barrels of various sizes.
It is an intense and rich Barolo, with a garnet red color and aromas of red berried fruits, spices, humus and undergrowth. The sip is powerful and structured, with complex aromas, dense and ripe tannins.
To be paired with stewed game and braised in red wine.
