Description

Barolo Castellero is produced by Fratelli Barale, a winery that has been producing wine in the municipality of Barolo since the end of the 19th century. Today Eleonora and Gloria Barale lead the company. The grapes come from the homonymous Castellero vineyard.

The grapes are normally harvested at the beginning of October, to then be softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in thermoregulated oak vats with the use of indigenous yeasts and with a subsequent maceration on the skins for approx. 30 days. The wine then ages for 3 years in 15-30 hl French oak barrels. The wine is finally bottled without clarification or stabilization and remains in the bottle for at least 12 months.

Ruby red in color with garnet reflections, the wine has a broad and ethereal nose, with hints of ripe red fruit, withered flowers and undergrowth. The sip is dry and sapid, with a complex tannic texture and a persistent finish.

This Castellero Barolo goes very well with roasted red meats and noble poultry, game, braised meats and aged cheeses.
