Description
Barco Reale of Carmignano by Fattoria Ambra is produced from the cru of Santa Cristina in Pilli and Montefortini in Carmignano, in Tuscany. Its name originates from the Medici park, the large hunting reserve with surrounding walls that the Medici owned on the Carmignano hills.
The Barco is the young version of Carmignano, one of the smallest and oldest appellations in the world. It is mainly produced with Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo Nero and other red berried grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand. The grapes are left to macerate for 15 days at a controlled temperature. The wine undergoes an ageing process in oak barrels for 6–8 months before being marketed.
This Barco Reale di Carmignano is a red wine with delicate and typical hints of violet. On the palate, it is elegant, with soft tannins.
A wine for the whole meal, it goes very well with first courses or meat.
