Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky An Oa Ardbeg

New arrival in Ardberg's The Ultimate range, An Oa is a single malt whiskey, the productive outcome of the encounter of whiskeys that spend their aging in three different types of cask: American which previously contained bourbon, European ex-sherry and charred virgin barrel. These spirits are brought together in a large French oak barrel, called Gathering Vat , whose fusion creates a very peaty and exceptionally soft whiskey.

This peculiar roundness recalls the promontory from which it takes its name and from which it is inspired, the Mull of Oa, an extraordinary place in Islay which is characterized by an unusual tranquility, in contrast with the surrounding landscape affected by impetuous winds, strong storms and dense marine mists.

Golden yellow in color, it develops an enveloping and characteristic peaty line on the nose that is combined with hints of lime, anise and cigar. On the palate it is smoked, with hints of chocolate, tea leaves and fresh wood, closing in a long and persistent finish on notes of cinnamon, honey and tobacco leaves.

Ideal smooth, it can be used to prepare a restorative Hot Toddy to fight the cold.
