Description
The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Monte Sant'Urbano by Speri hails from the vineyards of the homonymous property, located on a hill in the municipality of Fumane, in the Veneto region.
It is mainly produced with Corvina Veronese grapes and with Rondinella and Corvinone grapes, of which only the best bunches are selected manually, left to dry for about 120 days in the fruit cellar, in conditions of optimal temperature, ventilation and humidity. During this period, the grapes lose about 40% of their initial weight, with a considerable increase in sugars, then they are pressed and left to macerate in stainless steel tanks for 36 days, with periodic pumping over and racking, at the controlled temperature of 16-18 °C. The skins are then separated and the wine ferments in oak barrels, before being placed in Allier oak barrels for 24 months for ageing, which continues for another 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
The Amarone Vigneto Monte Sant'Urbano has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense, with pleasant hints of sour cherry jam, enriched with notes of dark chocolate and nuances of coffee, rhubarb and bay leaf. In the mouth it is soft and elegant, with important tannins and a long and persistent finish.
Excellent meditation wine, it is perfect to accompany grilled red meats, game and stewed meats. Also ideal in combination with aged and blue cheeses.
